Great news that finally the team are under way! The delivery
team- Dave and John and ben have done the first 550mile leg north
from St Johns. They were all pretty nervous heading off north
towards the ice where eventually they will meet me and the rest of
the team next week some 2500 miles further north into the arctic.
For the time being ice is minimal but from now on and increasing
they will encounter it more and more. At night this is the big ever
present danger.
The team did great though and they reached speeds of 50knots
even in some pretty big seas which is testament to the skills of
Dave and the crew and the quality of the boat. You feel very alone
out there, trust me! As the team encounter more ice their speeds
will reduce massively but for now we push on to get miles under the
belt to reach the NW Passage entrance whilst ice is not clogging it
up.
